Rio Ferdinand revealed that an altercation with Fernando Torres during a game left him needing stitches in his foot and left him scarred.
Appearing on his Live with Five podcast, the former England international spoke about some of the opposing players who he disliked the most during his playing career.
Ferdinand explained that during a particularly fiery game, he had an off-the-ball altercation with the former Liverpool and Chelsea forward Fernando Torres that left him needing stitches during the half-time interval.

Ferdinand detailed the altercation during an episode of his Live with Five podcast
‘I didn’t like Torres. He stamped on my foot one time in a game when the ball was at the other end. [I needed] stiches in my foot. I was playing and the ball was at the other end and we had had a few tussles in the game’. He said.
Despite the 38-year-old Spaniard enjoying a reputation as one of the game’s of the game’s more light-hearted personalities, Ferdinand explained that the World Cup-winning striker could be a ‘nasty character’:
‘He was game trust me. The ball went out at the other end and he just stamped on my foot and there was no ball about anywhere.

Ferdinand also named Robbie Savage among the players he hated playing against
‘I went in at half time and when I took off my boot it was the worst thing I could have done. My foot just went wooosh [mimics foot swelling], I had to get stitches, I had an injection, and I put my boot back on and went out and played. For ages it was killing me and I’ve got a scar on my foot.’ He added.
Ferdinand also revealed that he had ‘hated’ Mario Balotelli during the Italian’s time at Manchester City but that the two had since reconciled:
‘I hated Balotelli, I hated him. He had done a couple of things that I didn’t like with the fans and I thought he was rude. but then I chat to him now, lovely geezer.’
The 43-year-old also named Luis Suarez, Robbie Savage and Kevin Davies among his most hated opponents during his playing career.
