- Bruno Gonzalez scored an own-goal in the 15th minute to earn Atletico their win
- The Champions League quarter-finalists have not lost in ten in all competitions
- The win moved Atletico up to third in the table while Levante remained in 11th
Defender Bruno Gonzalez’s early misfortune gave Atletico Madrid their third successive victory as the Champions League quarter-finalists continued their excellent form by moving up to third in La Liga.
Gonzalez was trying to intercept a cross from Llorente to Diego Costa inside the area when he put through his own net to give the visitors a 15th-minute lead that they held on to with a third straight clean sheet following their 1-0 win at home to Real Valladolid on Saturday.

Marcos Llorente plays his part in the build-up that led to the visitors taking a 15th-minute lead
Atletico were sixth when the league was interrupted by the coronavirus, but their winning run – coupled with a series of poor results by rivals – has allowed them to make a swift return to the Champions League places.
‘We’re happy for another victory and for these very important three points that take us closer to our goal of qualifying for the Champions League,’ said Atletico midfielder Marcos Llorente.

Atletico are six points clear of fifth-place Getafe, who drew 1-1 at Valladolid, and 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Madrid hosts relegation-threatened Mallorca on Wednesday, while Barcelona hosts midtable Athletic Bilbao later Tuesday.
The result means that Diego Simeone’s side have made an unbeaten return to the Liga season
