Australia captain Aaron Finch warms up for semi-final against England with trip to see The Queen’s Corgi!
Australia, who have already prepared in unorthodox fashion for Thursday’s World Cup semi-final by taking to the Edgbaston outfield in bare feet, sprang another surprise on Wednesday with their choice of pre-match entertainment.
Captain Aaron Finch, who has done so much to restore Australia’s tattered reputation post Sandpapergate with his personable attitude, declared on Wednesday that he was off to the Birmingham cinema to watch new kids film ‘The Queen’s Corgi’.
‘It comes out today and I think I’m off to see it with my wife,’ said Finch who then declared ‘What’s funny about that?’ when the news was greeted with laughter by the assembled media.
Finch has clearly not seen the negative reviews about an animated picture that features a dog called Rex, a favourite of the Queen, who finds himself sent to the pound after an awkward encounter with Donald Trump. Yes, really.
It is unclear whether Finch shed his shoes and socks for his trip to the Bullring in England’s second city but the Australian captain will clearly be hoping for a similarly happy ending at Edgbaston on Thursday to the one he watched on screen.
