Controversial coach Jama Aden, who was named in the recent row between Sir Mo Farah and Haile Gebrselassie, has resurfaced at the Doha Diamond League meet – and refuted claims from the Ethiopian that he was at the root of the furious argument with Farah.
The most serious of Gebrselassie’s disputed allegations last month was that his clash with Farah originated when the Brit took exception to Aden being refused entry to Gebrselassie’s hotel near Addis Ababa.
Gebrselassie dated that alleged episode as being during his time as Ethiopian Athletics Federation president between November 2016 and November 2018 – after Aden’s arrest during a major doping raid in Spain in June 2016.

Aden, who is wanted to stand trial in Spain on doping charges, was seen at the Doha meet in 2017 and has links to the Qatar Athletics Federation, but has rarely been spotted since the 2016 raid.
On Friday, however, he was meeting with figures from the sport at the hotel used by athletes competing in the event – The Intercontinental Doha The City.
When asked by Sportsmail about Gebrselassie’s claims, Aden said: ‘It is not true what Haile says. It is lies. I have not stayed at his hotel since 2012.’
Haile Gebrselassie said his row with Farah began with Aden being refused entry to his hotel
Gebrselassie said Aden was ‘conducting training’ with Farah at the time of the hotel incident. Farah’s camp have previously denied Gebrselassie’s claims that he was unhappy about Aden being refused admittance and rejected any assertion that Aden was involved in his training. Farah said on Sunday that his last contact with Aden was in 2016.
Aden, who also dismissed the claims, added: ‘I did not train Mo Farah. I don’t know why Haile says these things.’ When asked when their last contact was, he said 2016.
Aden continued: ‘I never stayed in his (Gebrselassie) place. I’ve been a couple of times but I’ve never been to his place. There has never been a time when he has said I’m never allowed in his hotel, he’s a liar.
Aden said that the last contact he had with Farah was back in 2016
‘The last contact I had with Mo was in 2016. I’m p***** off with all these stories. I haven’t had any contact with Haile, I don’t know why he’s saying these things.’
Farah has long attempted to distance him from Aden, despite numerous links in the past.
The Somali coach was described by British Athletics in 2016 as an ‘unofficial facilitator’ for Farah when he trained in Ethiopia in 2015, saying his role was to hold a stopwatch and call out lap times.
