‘Of course I want to continue’: PSG boss Thomas Tuchel hopes to keep his job following French Cup final collapse
Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel insists he has no plans to quit the club following the shock French Cup final defeat by Rennes.
The French giants threw away a two-goal lead at the Stad de France, going on to lose 6-5 on penalties.
Although PSG won the Ligue 1 title for a third year in succession, Tuchel’s men have under-performed in cup competitions.

They relinquished a two-goal first-leg lead against Manchester United in the Champions League last 16, and were knocked out of the French League Cup by bottom-of-the-league Guingamp.
Tuchel told reporters after the final: ‘Of course I want to continue!
‘It’s too early to take stock. I have to think for a few days. This is not an easy situation.’
Tuchel believes a ‘muscle problem’ influenced Kylian Mbappe’s red card tackle in extra time
Dani Alves and Neymar scored as PSG raced into a 2-0 lead inside 21 minutes, but Presnel Kimpembe’s own goal halved the deficit just before half time.
Mexer’s equaliser midway through the second half forced extra-time, where Kylian Mbappe was sent off for a dangerous high tackle on Damien Da Silva. Rennes won the shootout as Charles Nkunku skied his spot kick.
‘It’s difficult to explain, also for me, because we made a good start to the game, very strong, very structured, with many qualities and many opportunities,’ Tuchel said.
‘We had a lot of chances throughout the game. But after leading 2-0 it’s hard to explain. For me it is a great disappointment to lose the second half 1-0. I have no explanation.

‘Mbappe had many opportunities to be decisive’ Tuchel added.
‘He had some problems on Friday, he stopped the last training because of some muscular problems. Maybe it was in his head, because normally he is very reliable in this kind of match, a final.
‘Usually, he is decisive. But today, he lacked a little confidence and the red card at the end, normally it is not him, but it remained in his head (the muscle problem).’
