Sportsmail revealed last month that Neil had emerged as Albion’s preferred candidate despite caretaker James Shan making a good impression after stepping up to replace Darren Moore.

Albion want to pick up momentum in the run-in to the end of the season so that they arrive at the play-offs in form.
