Real Madrid ‘look to offload Toni Kroos to free up space for Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen’ in summer makeover

  • Toni Kroos is thought to be considering leaving Real Madrid this summer
  • Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen are high on Zinedine Zidane’s wish list
  • German midfielder could make way to free up space on the club’s wage bill

Toni Kroos is thought to be considering a move away from Real Madrid this summer, which would open up swoops for Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen in a dramatic makeover.

Zinedine Zidane is keen on the Manchester United and Tottenham pair as he looks to regenerate the European champions following a poor domestically and in Europe.

The Frenchman was reappointed last month after the sacking of Santiago Solari, who had replaced the deposed Julen Lopetegui earlier in the campagin.

Germany midfielder Kroos could be one of the high-profile casualties from the summer remodeling, according to AS.

After five years at the Bernabeu he has endured his worst season, and his departure would free up a chunk of the wage bill, the Spanish newspaper reports.

His deteriorating performances have led to criticism, particularly after Real were dumped out of the Champions League by Ajax last month.

The 13-time European Cup winners will not let the 29-year-old leave on the cheap after a successful spell that has seen him lift 12 trophies.

Pogba has long been courting a move to Real Madrid and said it would be a ‘dream’ to play there under Zidane during the international break in March.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted on Friday he was concerned the French international’s head had been turned by Real.

Eriksen has just one season left on his deal in north London and has yet to agree a new deal, meaning Spurs could seek to cut their losses this summer.
