The Irish Football Association has condemned a video showing Northern Ireland fans singing ‘we hate Catholics’.

The footage shows them dressed in Northern Ireland shirts and singing ‘we hate Catholics, we hate Roman Catholics’. It was sung to the tune of Tiffany’s I Think We’re Alone Now.

The IFA said it will work to ensure those involved are stopped from getting tickets for NI matches.

‘The Irish FA condemns sectarianism of any kind,’ it said.

‘The chanting in the video was wrong and if those involved can be identified, the association will work to ensure that they are prevented from getting tickets for Northern Ireland matches.’

In a brief statement on Twitter, Northern Ireland’s official account tweeted: ‘This is utterly wrong and we condemn sectarianism in any form.’

Politicians have also criticism those in the video for their ‘genuinely disgusting conduct’.

Alliance Party leader Naomi Long called for action to be taken against those involved.

‘I’ve been to Windsor and watched NI abroad and never witnessed anything like this. No sectarianism, nothing,’ Long wrote on Twitter.

‘Have to say I find this stuff really disgusting.’
